Introduction
We partnered with a fragrance brand to create a Shopify experience that translates scent into story, crafting a digital flagship store that feels as refined and immersive as the products themselves. Built entirely from scratch without relying on a pre-built theme, the project combined advanced commerce functionality with rich editorial storytelling and premium UX design.
The Challenge
A fast-growing fragrance brand needed a fully custom Shopify store that could reflect its premium identity while supporting multi-region commerce, complex gifting logic, dynamic merchandising, and rich editorial storytelling. Off-the-shelf themes and apps couldn’t deliver the required flexibility, UX depth, or performance standards.

The Solution
We built a fully custom Shopify storefront from scratch, combining advanced UX, dynamic merchandising, and bespoke gifting functionality. The solution included multi-currency and localisation support, custom PLP/PDP experiences, interactive navigation, store locator, wishlist, and editorial content modules - along with performance-optimised animations and seamless checkout integrations tailored to the brand’s global growth strategy.

Navigation & Discovery Experience
To help customers explore complex product catalogues intuitively, we developed a custom mega-menu with multi-level navigation and mobile-specific behaviours. Sticky header functionality improves browsing continuity, while integrated predictive search accelerates product discovery with real-time suggestions.
Product Listing Experience
We developed a fully custom product grid optimised for performance and responsiveness. Promotional badges are dynamically driven by tags and metafields, and quick-add/select options streamline purchasing.
A standout feature is the dynamic collection header system, where layouts adapt based on collection type. For example:
- Circular layouts for select categories
- Large square grids for others
- Pills-style navigation for specific product groups
Collection handles and metafields power all rendering logic, ensuring flexible merchandising control.
Product Detail Experience
The product page was designed to balance storytelling with conversion. It includes:
- Custom layout architecture
- Image gallery slider with zoom
- Variant selection (size, colour, etc.)
- Add-to-bag functionality
- Structured collapsible product details
- Dynamic cross-sell and recommendation modules
Advanced Gift Functionality
Gifting plays a central role in fragrance commerce, so we engineered a fully custom system:
- Personalised gift messages per individual item
- Line-item level message storage
- Gift wrapping options per product
- Cart and checkout compatibility
- Validation and persistent configuration data
This enables customers to personalise multiple items differently within a single order.
Promotions & Pricing
We implemented promotional logic that works consistently across PLP, PDP, and cart, ensuring accurate discount displays and pricing behaviour at every touchpoint.
Customer Accounts
The customer account ecosystem includes:
- Sign-in / registration flows
- Password recovery
- Logged-in vs logged-out state logic
- Account dashboard
- Profile editing (personal info, password, addresses)
- Orders list and detailed order views
All supported by validation and error-handling systems.
Wishlist
Customers can save products directly from listing cards or PDPs, with wishlist data persisting inside their accounts and accessible via a dedicated page.
Custom Store Locator
We built a fully custom store locator without third-party apps, featuring:
- Interactive filtering
- Embedded maps
- Brand-aligned UI
- Native theme integration
Animated & Interactive Content
To bring the brand to life, we implemented multiple animated homepage and content sections powered by scroll- and interaction-based logic. All animations were optimised for performance and responsiveness.
Editorial & Content Storytelling
Beyond commerce, we built custom templates for article and editorial pages, going well beyond Shopify’s default blog structure. The modular system supports:
